Many years ago, I was standing over the sink washing dishes and watching my children play outside with other children in our townhome complex. It was in this moment that I heard the voice of the Lord, still and quiet, whisper to me ‘Sarah’s daughter’. Having not a clue what this meant, I immediately began to research Scripture about Sarah and then Sarah’s daughters.
Upon my in depth study which took a very long time, the Lord was dealing with me about submission. He shared with me that submission is greater than mere obedience because submission requires a specific heart posture. That’s what God wanted to show me. He wanted to teach me the position of submission.
Sarah’s submission to her husband Abraham (Genesis 17, 18), thus to the ultimate will of God for her life, is the very place where God was pulling me to. It was during this process in my life, that the Lord broke my spirit in order to teach me the ‘Position of Submission’.
Submission-the act of being humble and compliant. God used Sarah to show me how to humble myself to comply to His will for my life. Thus becoming a daughter of Sarah (1 Peter 3:6).
